Huge props to Ted for scoring 15 tics to the Spurs game last night. They straight up crushed the Jazz. I’ve been a huge Spurs fan since the 9th grade. After meeting the Iceman in person, I was hooked.
It wasn’t the game that I will remember, it will be the conversations. I sat in between two close friends that I met in our community last fall. Two guys that have not been to church in several years, but are making GFC their new church home. In fact, one of the guys told me that his friend is coming to our church this Sunday because she has to see “this church” that he is ACTUALLY going to. The other friend is also bringing people with him to Gateway because it is his birthday and their attendance is their gift. We talked about friends, basketball, tats, family, God, marriage, sex, and resolving conflict. After the game, we hit Milton’s taco stand on Wurzback. When I got home this part of an email was waiting for me in the inbox.
thanx for inviting me to the game tonight. dude it was nice to see the spurs handle them like that. It’s nice to see that such a perfect family has problems. I’m not happy to hear that you guys had problems, b/c I wish nothing but happiness for you and your family. I am happy to hear that you are human. Steph is Human. I see her face in church. When you are up there she is excited and happy. And she is proud. She is an awesome woman. And, your kids are great. You guys have so much. I hate to tell you, but if I wrote several days a week for hours I would never hear the end of it. You got things pretty good. I’m sorry I monopolized the conversation. I steered it a bit subconsciously, b/c I was surprised by what you said. If you ever wanted to talk about it I would listen. My mind was so deep in thinking about my past and then you mentioned a couple things about yours and I was taken slightly aback.
The slam dunks and three pointers were great, but the conversations were better. I love my friends.
